Aloha!
I'm David Singhiser the author and creator of Libertas.ws. I've lived all over the place, but consider Oklahoma, Texas, and Hawai'i home in different ways. I was born in Oklahoma, but grew up in Austin, Texas. I moved to Hawai'i in 1990. As you may know already, I was a teacher for around ten years teaching Old Testament History, Spanish, English, and Social Studies in Honolulu, Phuket, and Roi-Et, Thailand. I also had the privilege of studying Spanish in Guanajuato, Mexico, and Madrid, Spain. So, I also feel close to those three countries as well.
The relaxed laid back lifestyle of living in Thailand, Mexico, and Spain spoiled me. I had time to enjoy life and friends. The more I stayed the more I realized that the typical lifestyle in the States would be unbearable. It seemed I had to choose between money and time. If I chose money, I had no time freedom to see family or friends around the world or to travel to new places. If I chose time, then I had no financial freedom to do the same.
As you can see I value freedom: political freedom, economic freedom, financial freedom, and time freedom. Although, I chose to live in a "free" country, I was still tied to a job. It was another form of slavery. I loved to teach, but the pay was inadequate for the lifestyle I wanted. The workload was increasingly unbearable, having little to do with improving the education of my students but having every thing to do with justifying more bureaucracy and regulations.
I finally realized that I was, what Jeffrey Combs writes in his book of the same name, "Psychologically Unemployable."
I had to find another way. I had to find true freedom.
After searching for months, I found a web site similar to this one, just like you. I found the means to living life on my terms, as a Sovereign Individual, Living the Life of My Dreams where I want, traveling when I want, and doing what I want. I could design my life like the New Rich that Timothy Ferriss writes about in The 4-Hour Work Week.
Fill in the Box below and join me on an Adventure: it's called LIFE.
"Yes! Live! Life is a banquet, and most poor sons of bitches are starving to death." Auntie Mame
"A slave is one who waits for someone to come and free him." -Ezra
Pound
I wish you the best.
Aloha!
